Mission Statement: To aid and guide members of our community who seek resources and opportunities to improve their lives and the lives of those around them
Vision Statement: To empower the underserved and marginalized members of our community by providing connections, training, and opportunities specific to their talents, allowing them to shine and grow and thereby enhancing our community
Values: We believe that by fostering the unique talents and experiences of individuals, they will be able to cultivate and shine their abilities, allowing them to showcase their skills and talents.
1. To collaborate with organizations which provide education and career opportunities for our clients as specified below.
2. To create a program that guides our clients in more easily fulfilling their basic needs (as per Maslow’s hierarchy of needs) and thus allowing them to focus on their goals in life.
3. To identify and secure financial opportunities such as grants, collaborations, fundraising, and private donors where other programs are lacking.
4. To connect our clients with a qualified case manager within a week of reaching out to us with the focus of overcoming barriers and paving the path to success and growth.
5. To identify immediate physiological needs and provide resources to meet those needs, then continue to support them until they can do so independently.
• Level 1: A case manager will work with new clients to identify resource needs (such as food, shelter, employment, and healthcare) for a maximum of 90 days to understand needs and goals and remove roadblocks to that end. Upon successful accomplishment of goals, the case manager will check in on the client every 3-6 months to ensure continued success.
• Level 2: After clients have achieved stability through Hand Up’s program - or through another similar program - they will be able to shadow a case manager for 3 months as part of the give-back component of Hand Up. Hand Up will work with probation and courts so this may qualify as community service. Upon successful completion of shadowing period Hand Up will identify client career path such as social work or other opportunities and guide clients along this career path to the point of growth and success.
